Shark chunk survivor, 12, from Cocoa Seaside preps for fourth surgical treatment

Jai Villamil has been surfing for about six years. But on his very first excursion to New Smyrna Seaside, the 12-12 months-old Cocoa Beach resident was bitten by a shark.

Because Monday evening when the chunk happened, Jai has had three surgical procedures to fix his appropriate leg. On Monday, he’ll undergo a fourth.

When the shark little bit Jai, it harmed a nerve that controls his capability to shift his foot up and down. His fourth operation will entail a nerve graft from his remaining leg to mend 15 centimeters of this broken nerve in his right leg. Restoration is anticipated to take about 6 to eight months.
